£40m EuroMillions winner still to claim

A UK ticketholder who won £39.7 million in Friday's EuroMillions draw had last night not come forward to claim the prize.

The win is the game's fourth highest for a UK ticket and comes a month after a Gloucestershire couple won 56m – Britain's biggest lottery prize.

National Lottery operator Camelot said, subject to validation, the money could be paid out when banks open tomorrow.

The winning numbers were 8, 16, 18, 37, 43, and the Lucky Star numbers were 2 and 6.

In February Nigel Page, 43, and Justine Laycock, 41, who live near Cirencester, won a record-breaking 56m in the draw.

Across Europe, the record EuroMillions win is 113m by a single ticket-holder from Spain last May.
