£35m more in fuel to drive off on holiday

MOTORISTS looking to get away this bank holiday will spend £35 million more on petrol than they did during the same holiday weekend in 2009, according to insurance broker Swinton, which commissioned research following petrol price rises in the past 12 months.

The figure is based on 11.9 million drivers travelling an average 147 miles and buying fuel at about 120p per litre.
