The £2m island

ONE of the biggest sales of this year was the uninhabited island of Taransay, below, made famous by the TV series Castaway.

dam and Cathra Kelliher took it over in September after it was put on the market for £2 million by brothers Angus and Norman Mackay.

The Kellihers already owned Borve Lodge in Harris, which has views across to Taransay, and have visited the area together for 20 years. The couple, who live in London, established Equateq, the firm that in 2007 re-opened a factory in Lewis to make health additives.
