£250 fine for learner drive

A LEARNER driver could not afford lessons after he lost his job.

So Christopher Millar went joyriding in a van he "borrowed| from his friend's dad.

Officers found Millar, 25, hadn't been given permission to use the vehicle. And although he had a provisional licence, he wasn't displaying L-plates and didn't have insurance.

Miller, of Camps Rigg, Livingston, West Lothian, pleaded guilty to taking and driving away the van. He was fined 250 and banned from driving for six months.
