£230k work for junction

WORK is under way on a £230,000 project that will remove a city roundabout.

The city council this week started the work at the junction of Fountainbridge and Gardner's Crescent. It will see the roundabout removed and replaced with traffic signals. It is hoped work will improve access to the end of the Union Canal for pedestrians and cyclists.

The work, which received a 170,000 grant from the Scottish Government's cycling, walking and safer streets initiative, is expected to take about three months to complete.
