£1m funding for A&Es

AN action plan which will see £1 million invested in emergency NHS
departments has been
announced by the Scottish Government.

The cash, which will see extra consultants hired to work in A&E, comes following a winter in which hospitals, particularly Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary, have struggled to cope with demand.

Health Secretary Alex Neil said: “We are seeing more people than ever before coming to hospital as emergency admissions due to the increase in the ageing population. It’s only right that we look at how we can do things better.”
