£1000 reward for help to catch cat-skinners

AN animal rights group today put up a £1000 reward for information which will lead to the arrest of those responsible for skinning two cats.

The cats' bodies were found in the Boghead Nature Reserve in West Lothian last week. It is thought that the cats were skinned by criminals who use their fur to teach dogs to attack other animals, such as badgers. Scottish SPCA inspectors and police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the killings.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals group is now offering up to 1000 as a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the crime. PETA spokesperson Yvonne Taylor said: "According to leading mental health professionals and the police, perpetrators of violent acts against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat not only to other animals, but to the community as a whole."
