Protesters hit at wind farms

OPPONENTS of plans for wind farms on Forestry Commission land marched on the Scottish Parliament yesterday.

About 150 protesters from across Scotland staged a demonstration from Princes Street to Holyrood, claiming the move would "ruin the country".

Organiser Denise Davis, from Ardblair, near Beauly, said: "It will turn the countryside into a place where people will not want to live or tourists visit."

A Forestry Commission Scotland spokesman said: "All wind farms built on national forest land do not get a free pass and are subject to the stringent planning regulations."
