'Protect our vital ferry' says MSP

CALLS have been made for the Scottish Government to protect a "vital" ferry link between Rosyth and Zeebrugge.

Jim Hume MSP, the Lib Dems' transport spokesman, said there were growing concerns that operator DFDS was preparing to shut down the freight route, moving it to Newcastle.

Mr Hume said: "With the service having already been downgraded from a passenger and freight service to just freight, and from four sailings a week to three, I am concerned that the service is being run down altogether in Scotland."
