Projects get stamp of approval from lottery

SEVERAL city projects have won funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Little Steps nursery, the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and Leith Community Mediaworks are among more than 900 groups to have received cash from a £6 million fund this year. The lottery’s small grants programme hands out grants of between £500 and £10,000, while larger projects can earn up to £100,000.

Clara Govier, head of charities and communications at People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “2012 has been a hard year for many charities as funding opportunities have been increasingly difficult to achieve.

“So we are absolutely delighted that we are finishing the year with such a wonderful announcement, and look forward to increasing our support to groups in need across 2013.”
