Progress on repairs scandal

THE city is making “good progress” addressing complaints from property owners caught up in the statutory repairs scandal, a senior director has insisted.

Mark Turley, director of services for communities, said “significant steps” had been taken to tackle behaviour by council staff and described the Delloite reports into the affair as “historic”.

In September, the Evening News revealed that £27 million paid to contractors for building work at private homes had still not been
recouped from residents.
