Profits up for city bar firm

THE company that owns The Southsider and Bert's Bar has recorded a slight increase in sales.

Maclay Inns said like-for-like sales increased by one per cent, to 10.7 million, in the year to the beginning of October 2010, despite tough economic conditions. Operating profits surged by 26 per cent to 930,000.

Managing director Steve Mallon said: "The outlook for 2011 remains tough but we are confident that we can continue to lead the business through these challenging times and we anticipate a good year ahead."
