

Production on Nexen’s Buzzard field, 60 miles North east of Aberdeen, was shut down a month ago after a release of steam triggered an alarm.
And a spokeswoman for the Canadian oil company said today: “We confirm that Buzzard production over the weekend was intermittent due to equipment failure. We are now preparing to restart the plant and expect production to return to normal levels by mid-week.”

Hide AdBuzzard normally produces about 200,000 barrels of oil a day and holds enough reserves to potentially deliver about ten per cent the UK’s annual oil demand.
