Probe into crash link to Musselbrugh pub manager murder

AN INJURED man picked up by paramedics after being found close to the site of a car crash which police believe is linked to the murder of pub manager is still recovering in hospital.

The 23-year-old, who was found walking some two miles away from a one-car collision on the A1 near Dunbar in the early hours of Thursday morning, is not thought to be seriously ill.

Pub boss Stevie Curran's body was found by police, dumped at the back of the pub he managed - the Dolphin Inn in Whitecraig near Musselburgh - at 2am on Thursday.

Officers are still investigating possible links between the murder and the crash, which involved a silver Toyota Celica believed to have belonged to Mr Curran's wife, Jill. Its driver had left the scene by the time police attended the accident, at 12.30am.

Lothian and Borders Police yesterday launched a murder investigation into the death of father of two Mr Curran, 47.

"A murder investigation is underway, and police are reiterating their appeal for information relating to his death," a spokesman said.

Neighbours living near to the bar have spoken of an altercation at the pub earlier in the evening, but the cause of Mr Curran's death has not yet been established.

No arrests or charges have been made so far.
