Prizes for disabled charity raffle are stolen

RAFFLE prizes for a charity helping disabled children have been stolen.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident, which happened sometime overnight between Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th October in Badger Park, Broxburn.

All of the items, which were to be handed out to winners of the Yellow Teapot Club raffle, had been stored within a car in the car park that was broken into.

The charity facilitates a range of activities for children with special needs and disabilities within West Lothian and intended to sell off tickets for the prizes to raise additional funds.

Various goods including wine, chocolates, toiletries and candles were taken during this incident and police are urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

A police spokesman said: “This opportunistic theft has resulted in items intended for use at a charity raffle being stolen and the charity being left out of pocket.

“Staff at the Yellow Teapot Club have been left devastated at the theft of these prizes and are desperate to have them returned as soon as possible.

“Officers are conducting local enquiries to identify those responsible and anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in or around the Badger Park car park on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning is asked to contact police immediately.”

Anyone with information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
