Privatisation fears hot up

CONCERNS have been raised about the impact that privatisation of council services could have on the city's ability to deal with bad weather.

The cold snap saw many council workers reassigned to clear streets of snow and ice.

Labour councillor Angela Blacklock fears plans to outsource a series of council services could impact the response in future years. She said: "Privatisation of services such as waste management will mean that the council has less flexibility."
