Private hire driver ‘raging’ over stolen fare

A PRIVATE hire driver later found dying in a park was “raging” because he thought someone had tried to steal his fare, a murder trial has heard.

David Revels, 44, told the High Court in Edinburgh about his fall-out with a man he said was Ebrahim Aryaei Nekoo.

Cabbie Stephen Nolan, 48, of Redhall Place, denies murdering Mr Aryaei Nekoo on March 12 last year.

Mr Revels described yesterday how he let another driver pick up a fare after both were accidentally dispatched to the same job in autumn 2010.

He told how, some time later, he was parked in Fountainbridge when Mr Aryaei Nekoo stopped and tried to start a fight. Questioned by prosecutor Douglas Fairley QC, Mr Revels agreed he had only given a description of the man to police and not his name – but had recognised Mr Aryaei Nekoo in a newspaper.

The trial continues.
