Prisoner dies in Saughton

A PRISONER has died in custody at the city's Saughton Jail.

It is understood 56-year-old Thomas Rodger passed away due to natural causes.

He had been remanded in custody from Haddington Sheriff Court on Wednesday having been taken there on a breach of the peace charge.

Officials said today that the man's next of kin have been informed of his death.
