A spokesman for Scotia Gas Networks said: "There were reports of a gassy smell in the area.
"By the time we got out there, the school has been evacuated. We carried out readings throughout the area but there were no readings of any gas at the school or within the vicinity."
A council spokesman added: "Following reports of a gas smell staff followed correct emergency procedures by moving staff and pupils to a nearby church hall.
"Once the all-clear was given everyone was allowed back in."
