Prescriptions get cheaper

PRESCRIPTION charges are set to fall again ahead of them becoming free next year.

The Scottish Government has announced that the cost will drop to 3 per item.

It could lead to patients being able to save hundreds of pounds before charges are abolished in April next year across Scotland.

Lothians MSP and one-time city doctor Ian McKee said: "As a former Wester Hailes GP I am well aware of the difficulties faced by people in deprived communities. We can't allow poverty to affect people's health and their ability to receive treatment."
