Praise for Capital snappers

TWO amateur photographers have been singled out by judges in a Scotland-wide photography competition.

Nicola Garman, from Leith, and Gary Fox, from Gorgie, were selected from more than 11,000 entrants in the first picture-led competition run by the Bank of Scotland, entitled A Slice of Scottish Life.

Ms Garman’s picture “Wedding” illustrated the backs of a bride and groom celebrating their big day. The judges chose the image for her unusual decision not to focus on their faces, but to capture the personal moment of the groom holding his bride’s shoes.

Mr Fox’s photo depicts a reenactment of the Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover.

Entitled “Shabbey Road”, the image captured four punks on their way to Cramond Island for a festival.
