Practice makes perfect bid

Young performers are perfecting their music skills for a special sponsored event.

Around 250 music pupils from Portobello Music School and Towerbank Primary School are taking part in a two-week “practice-a-thon” starting on Monday.

They hope to raise £2000 in support of CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people. The fundraiser involves youngsters practicing their instrument or voice for at least 15 minutes every day for the whole two weeks.

There will be prizes for the child who practices most in each instrument category and a special prize for the most imaginative location.

Brian Cope, director of Portobello Music School, said: “Practice-a-thon is a great way to raise money for a really important cause.”
