Power failure shuts schools

PUPILS at Broomhouse and St Joseph's primaries got an extra day added to their holidays after they were sent home from school due to a power cut.

The youngsters at the joint campus were turned away when they arrived at school yesterday morning.

A spokesman for the council said there was a mains problem in the area which led to the school having no electricity.

Pupils from across Edinburgh returned to school yesterday following the Christmas holidays.
