Power cut leaves the lights out over Leith

A LARGE area of Leith suffered a power cut last night after a fault occurred in ScottishPower's high voltage network.

The lights went out at around 11pm yesterday and the disruption was expected to continue until the early hours of this morning. Householders in Leith had reported experiencing intermittent breaks in their power supply the previous evening.

ScottishPower said engineers were working to correct the problem, adding the electricity supply was expected to have been fully restored by about 2.30am today.

Customers who rang to report a loss of power heard a recorded message saying a fault had occurred in the high voltage network. Police said they had received a number of calls about the power cut.
