Potter auction funds tribute

A SET of signed Harry Potter books and a hand-written note by author JK Rowling made more than £8000 at auction to help fund a tribute to a bus crash victim.

Shona Macleod, 15, a school pupil at Keswick School in Cumbria, wrote to the world-famous author because she wanted to raise 950 for a bench in memory of 15-year-old Kieran Goulding, who was killed in a horrific crash on the A66 last May.

The set of books had been expected to make between 2000 and 4000.

The hand-written card from Edinburgh-based JK Rowling said: "I am so sorry to hear about Kieran. What a wonderful way to communicate with him."
