Port a safe haven for jobs

PORT of Leith Housing Association is hosting an open day for tenants to promote its Training Opportunities in Lothian (TOiL) programme.

TOiL offers six-month paid work placements and was established in 2004. It has supported almost 400 young people into permanent employment, education and modern apprenticeships.

The open day will also cover general employability advice such as interview techniques and CV tips.

Chief executive Keith Anderson said: “We hope this event helps people see what support there is available to try and succeed in a very difficult jobs market.”

The event, offering placements for 16 to 20-year-olds, will take place at PoLHA’s office on Constitution Street in Leith tomorrow, between 10am and 4pm.
