Pop-up shop bags charity cash bonus

Art students have put their talents to good use by designing limited edition “bags for life” to raise money for several charities.

The students from Edinburgh College of Art teamed up with Jutexpo, the UK manufacturer of reusable bags, which invited 13 students to enter a competition to have their designs printed on to reusable jute bags to sell at a pop-up shop in Princes Mall.

The designs had to reflect the three chosen charities which will benefit from the funds raised – the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and the Poppy Appeal.

The students – Jennifer Ellery, Aneska Sobodova and Heather Edmiston – helped transform part of the mall into a Christmas shop to display bespoke gifts that they had designed and created from recycled materials.
