Pools make a splash with new swim deal

A NEW membership deal for young swimmers has been introduced at the city's public swimming pools following a review of a new charge.

Edinburgh Leisure introduced a 2 swim charge for children aged five to 12 from the beginning of last month in response to cuts to its funding by the city council.

Users campaigned for a membership deal that would reduce the financial impact of the charge.

The company has now introduced a junior swim membership that offers unlimited use of the pools by five to 17-year-olds for 10 a month.

John Comiskey, chief executive of Edinburgh Leisure, said: "Edinburgh Leisure is committed to ensuring that as many young people as possible have the opportunity to learn to swim at an early age and continue to participate through to adulthood.

"By launching this new product, we hope to encourage regular participation by young adults at an affordable price."
