Pool stays shut during inquiry

THE outdoor swimming pool where a schoolboy had to be rescued last week after being found lying unconscious at the bottom of the pool is to remain closed until a detailed investigation has been completed, it was announced yesterday.

The 11-year-old, a pupil at Ferryhill Primary School in Aberdeen, was pulled from outdoor seawater pool at Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire on Thursday afternoon. He was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and later transferred to Edinburgh’s Sick Children’s Hospital for specialist treatment.

The Health and Safety Executive is leading a detailed investigation into the incident.
