Pollution poem wins top prize

A LOTHIAN pupil has been honoured in a contest seeking the next Rabbie Burns.

Katie Revell of Dunbar Grammar School received the top prize in an annual Scots language prose and poetry competition.

The second-year pupil’s poem on pollution and global warming called The Sea was selected as the top entry in the event sponsored by national campaign group Scots Tung.

Schoolmate Jenny Brunton was also recognised for a poem entitled Ma Wee Scotty Dug!

Ms Revell received a Scottish language dictionary and a quaich from East Lothian education director Alan Blackie for her efforts.
