Pollution check at Edinburgh sites

THREE former industrial sites in Edinburgh are to undergo tests for possible industrial pollution.

The sites – the old Portobello power station, the former Northfield chemical works and a former chemical works at Abbeyhill – will be checked to confirm they pose no threat to residents.

Councillor Robert Aldridge, the city council's environment leader, said: "There's no reason to think there are specific concerns with these sites, but the health and wellbeing of residents is paramount and we will keep all those in the affected areas informed as the investigations proceed."
