Youth training to get £9m boost

COUNCILS will share £9 million to create youth employment and training opportunities.

Six areas have been identified by the Scottish Government and will share £9m from the £30mYouth Employment Strategy fund.

Glasgow will get the most, at £3.4m, followed by North Lanarkshire with £1.8m. Other council areas to benefit are South Lanarkshire, North Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and East Ayrshire.

Minister for youth employment Angela Constance said: “The councils in question have options on how best to direct this funding, but we all have the same objective – improving employment opportunities of Scotland’s young people.”
