Watch: Huge Black Lives Matter protests in Edinburgh and Glasgow
Scots have made their voices heard today on Glasgow Green and in Edinburgh’s Holyrood Park.
The mass gatherings came in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement that has swept the world following the death of African American George Floyd, who was killed after a white police officer held him down by pressing a knee into his neck in Minneapolis on May 25.
Initial scenes suggest Scots appeared keen to keep protests peaceful and safe, with the majority of people wearing face coverings.
Clear social distancing seemed to be in place at the Edinburgh event, but scenes in Glasgow appeared to be more crowded.
She said: “Right now, mass gatherings risk spreading #COVID19 so please protest in other ways.”
