Ukip to stand in Dunfermline by-election
The party, which has no elected representation in Scotland and lost its deposit in the last Scottish Parliament by-election earlier this year, said Mr Adams will stand for the seat.
Mr Adams is the party’s regional organiser in Scotland and was selected by members in Fife today. He has lived in Fife for 20 years and is treasurer of Kirkcaldy West Community Council, Ukip said.
He said: “I will represent the people of Dunfermline with common-sense views and ideas which appear to be lacking in our present parliamentary system.
“With our Ukip referendum policy we listen and work with the voters, not ignore them, and if we had Ukip’s recall policy in place we would not have had this long drawn-out saga with Bill Walker.”
Each of Scotland’s main political parties have launched their campaigns in the last fortnight for the seat vacated by disgraced Bill Walker.
Voters will elect a new MSP for Dunfermline on Thursday October 24.
Both Labour and the Liberal Democrats have selected local councillors to fight the by-election, Cara Hilton and Susan Leslie respectively.
The SNP candidate is former MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville, the Conservatives will be represented by James Reekie and the Scottish Greens have Zara Kitson standing.
