Tory MEP flexes mental muscles for Schwarzenegger think tank

A Scottish Conservative MEP has been appointed adviser at a think tank set up by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Ian Duncan will advise the University of Southern California’s (USC) Schwarzenegger Institute on energy policy and climate change.

The former actor and governor of California established the cross-party institute to bring together international expertise to examine policy solutions to global challenges.

He met Mr Duncan, who is the European Parliament’s lead law-maker on reform of the EU emissions trading system, at the UN climate change conference in Paris last December.

Mr Duncan said: “I am honoured to be asked to serve on the board of advisers to the USC Schwarzenegger Institute.

“The institute has an impressive track record and I look forward to exploring solutions to the challenges presented by a warming planet, energy poverty and our ongoing dependence upon fossil fuels.”

Bonnie Reiss, the institute’s global director, said: “We are honoured to have Ian join our board of advisers.
