Tory leadership debate LIVE: Truss and Sunak set for TV showdown in race for No 10

We’re now getting to the fashion aspect of the debate - no seriously...

Chris Mason asks about the cost of clothing of each candidate - Mason asks does this matter?

Sunak says that in the Conservative Party they judge people by their character and values - he says he wasn’t born this way and that he worked as a waiter, standing there due to the hard work of his parents - and that is why he wants to be PM.

Liz Truss says she has no issue with how expensive clothes are - but that she is campaigning in this leadership election in a postive way.

On climate change - Rishi Sunak cited energy efficiency, recycling, and a faith in British innovation is the best way to solve problems. Trusssays she was “a teenage eco-warrior before it was fashionable.” and that climate change will be a crucial part of her premiership.

Liz Truss has said she doesn’t think the mistakes that Johnson made deserved him to lose his job and as a result she stayed loyal to the end.

Sunak says Johnson is one of the most amazing politicians he has worked with and he is proud of what they achieved in government - but that he had to take a principled stand against Boris over a number of disagreements they had on partygate and the handling of the economy.

Truss end saying that “I might not be the slickest presenter in the business” but that she keeps her promises. There is applause as she says she will not increase taxation.

Rishi Sunak gains applause when he gives Boris Johnson a 10/10 for his premiershop saying when he was great “he was great”

The debate has come to an end but that was very fiery - especially at the start - the pair clashed on a host of topics such as the economy, Russia and more.

That brings an end to the live blog - we’ll have more on our site throughout the night and tomorrow morning
