Stonewall campaign will target MSPs

AN EQUALITY charity is sending postcards to MSPs urging them to support same-sex marriage.

Stonewall Scotland said it is distributing 100,000 cards. They will go to politicians, as well as supporters, libraries and GP surgeries.

It comes after a Scottish Government consultation on the introduction of same-sex marriage closed last week.

Same-sex couples can enter a civil partnership with full legal rights, but the ceremony cannot be conducted in a church or other religious premises.

The Church of Scotland and the Catholic Church in Scotland are opposed to the proposals.

Equal Marriage campaigners have submitted around 18,000 responses to the Scottish Government’s consultation.
