SNP quizzed over candidate

The SNP faces serious questions over why a health chief who resigned after being accused of gross misconduct is a Nationalist candidate in the council elections, Labour have said.

Dr David Cameron resigned as chairman of NHS Grampian and as a board member of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in the wake of the allegation.

He is running as a candidate in May’s elections in Aberdeen.

Richard Baker, Labour MSP for North East Scotland, said: “I cannot understand how someone who resigned in disgrace from public life is now considered suitable for public office. The SNP have some very serious questions to answer.”

Dr Cameron said: “There was an unsubstantiated allegation by a female co-worker in her 40s. It was her word against mine. The way I have been treated is shoddy and unjust.”

An SNP spokeswoman said: “These issues have been in the public domain since last year.”
