A new YouGov opinion poll for the Times has added to evidence that support for independence has risen with one month to go before the vote.

The poll recorded the highest level of backing for a Yes vote in its polling on the referendum question, although No support maintained a 14-point lead.

In other referendum news, oil and gas forecasts by the OBR have been described as “incredibly pessimistic” in a newly-published report by business group N-56, Hearts have issued a statement accusing pro-independence campaigners of attempting to “hijack” the club’s logo ahead of yesterday’s Edinburgh derby against Hibernian, and Alex Salmond has said that keeping the pound without the backing of the Bank of England is a viable “transitional option” for an independent Scotland.
