Scottish independence: ‘Doctored’ photo removed from Yes Scotland site

NATIONALISTS have removed an apparently doctored photo from a website that portrayed models wearing pro-independence slogans.

Yes Scotland, the independence campaign launched last Friday, posted a photo on its site featuring a group of cheering people wearing campaign lanyards.

Opponents said it is identical to a stock photo distributed for sale by a private picture agency, which appears to have been digitally altered to superimpose the logos.

The photo was produced by agency iStockphoto, a subsidiary of US-based Getty, and also appears on a number of other non-related websites without the campaign slogans.

IStockphoto’s conditions state clients must not “use a model in a manner that would lead a reasonable person to think that such person uses or personally endorses any product, cause or other endeavour”.
