Scottish independence: Clydesdale announce contingency

THE OWNER of Clydesdale bank, the National Australia Bank (NAB), has confirmed that it would move its registration to England in light of a Yes vote.

The banking group stated that it believed that re-registration would address some of the uncertainties and risks surrounding Scotland separating from the rest of the UK.

NAB Group CEO Andrew Thorburn said that in the event of Yes vote, registration of Clydesdale Bank in England would provide greater security for the group going forward.

Mr Thorburn said: “This contingency plan gives our Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank customers increased certainty about the ongoing success and stability of the bank,”
