Scottish Election 2021 results: Scottish Greens win first MSP in Central Scotland

The Scottish Green Party has won its first MSP in Central Scotland as Gillian MacKay was elected.

Scottish Labour's Richard Leonard, Monica Lennon and Mark Griffin have also been returned to Holyrood via list votes.

Falkirk West candidate Stephen Kerr was first on the Scottish Conservative & Unionist party's list in Central Scotland, so he took a place along with his colleagues Graham Simpson and Meghan Gallacher.

The SNP took 18,040 votes – 45.35 per cent share of the vote – but their victories in the constituencies meant the list votes did not translate into any extra seats.

The Conservatives took 8,127 votes (20.43 per cent) pushing Labour into third place with 7,832 (19.69 per cent).

The Scottish Green Party picked up 2,802, way ahead of both the Scottish Liberal Democrats with 968.

Alex Salmond's Alba Party failed to make an impact and took 697 votes (1.75 per cent).

The totals for the Falkirk West constituency Central Scotland Regional list vote were:

In total, 39,783 votes were cast and 45 ballot papers rejected.
