NO, it’s not a wardrobe malfunction on the part of Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond.

In fact Mr Salmond donned a pink beret and sunglasses to pose alongside Christina McKelvie MSP at the Scottish Parliament yesterday to help promote Wear it Pink Day on Friday 25 October.

Mr Salmond said: “I was happy to ‘wear it pink’ and show my support for Breast Cancer Campaign’s fundraising efforts so they can continue to fund the research which will one day lead to a cure. Breast Cancer Campaign do an excellent job and this is a great way to show support.”

Mia Rosenblatt, head of policy and campaigns at the charity said: “We are delighted by Alex Salmond’s support for our wear it pink event. The assistance we receive from Mr Salmond and other MSPs helps Breast Cancer Campaign to raise vital funds to support life-saving breast cancer research.

“We hope everyone joins them in taking part in wear it pink this October 25th. All you need to do is wear something pink and donate £2, it couldn’t be easier.”

Approximately 4,400 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in Scotland every year including 20 men. The disease causes around 1,000 deaths annually north of the border.
