Rivals share Trident views

EDINBURGH South Labour candidate Ian Murray has come out against Trident.

Defying the Labour line, he told a hustings meeting for Newington churches: "I don't believe in nuclear weapons. I would vote against replacement of Trident." Retiring Labour MP Nigel Griffiths quit his government post in 2007 over the issue.

Liberal Democrat candidate Fred Mackintosh and the SNP's Sandy Howat also spoke out against Trident, but Tory Neil Hudson would vote for it.
