He said: “A lot of these attacks have been at nothing-type jobs, where there was no suggestion of violence beforehand.

“At one job, someone had dropped a cooker on their foot and he charged at me, which made me think I was going to get stabbed. Later, he started throwing things at me form a high rise flat. Another time, someone was trapped in a vehicle and their friend tried to get them out, but it was very dangerous so we stopped them. Then I got thrown down a 20ft embankment.

“It’s so worrying I’d really like us to be given stab vests, like the police, to protect us.”
