Owners prepare for CPOs

LANDOWNERS are being urged to start planning for the impact of compulsory purchase orders (CPOs) needed to build new dual carriageway sections on the A9 and A96.

It is expected that hundreds of estates, businesses, farms and forests will be subject to CPOs, which allow the government to acquire land for market value.

Andrew Wood, a partner at the property firm Bidwells, said: “The government will start acquiring land very soon and landowners need to be ready. The A9 is a particularly complex road, with moorland, forestry, estates, grazing land and complex infrastructure.”
