The First Minister will address Parliament virtually on Wednesday at 2pm to give an update on the Covid-19 situation as the Omicron variant sweeps across the country.

Wales has also said that asymptomatic people who test positive on a lateral flow test will no longer require a confirmatory PCR test.

The change will come into effect from Thursday January 6.

The Welsh Government estimates it will reduce the demand for PCR tests by between 5% and 15%.

Nicola Sturgeon says she is unaware of any additional funding coming from the UK Government but that the Scottish Government are providing as much support as they can from their own resources.
