New website shows off our vital statistics

FINANCE Secretary John Swinney today launched a new website to let people see at a glance how Scotland is performing.

The website is intended to give quick access to information to track the success of the Scottish Government's objectives of making the country "wealthier, safer, healthier, greener and smarter".

The site will be updated whenever relevant new statistical information becomes available.

Scotland Performs is based on a strategic planning and communications tool used in the US state of Virginia.

Mr Swinney said: "By making this information easy to access, and by showing exactly whether we as a country are doing well or need to do more, everyone in Scotland will have the ability to judge for themselves how Scotland is performing."
