New Miralles centre opens

A NEW foundation in memory of Scottish Parliament architect Enric Miralles will be officially opened in his home town of Barcelona tonight.

Miralles died in 2000 of a brain tumour, aged 45, before the parliament was completed.

The foundation, based in the same building as the EMBT architectural studio he established with his partner, Benedetta Tagliabue, will house his project documentation and archive as well as exhibitions of his work.

It will also host conferences and provide space for “the experimentation of contemporary architecture”.
