Stringent measures have been in place around the Scottish Parliament building and debating chamber as politicians returned on Tuesday after the Summer recess.

But Deputy Presiding Officer Christine Grahame told MSPs that the rules were not being observed strictly enough.

"Can I just remind members - remember that thing social distancing?” she said.

"We apparently we've not been too good at it at some points today.

"So I just remind you not to slip into bad habits."

The rebuke came as MSPs prepared to debate the return of schools this week where teachers are expected to observe social distancing from pupils.
